Mike generously gave a new fly rod set up that he won at the ASF Dinner to my daughter at the Halifax dinner a couple of years ago… without hesitation, when they called his name, he went up and got the rod/reel combo and came over to our table and passed it to the kids and said “I’ve got too many of these things now, hopefully, one of you guys can put this to good use”. It was such a genuine act of generosity and desire to keep kids interested in salmon fishing, and a moment that none of us will ever forget… to this day, all my kids still talk about “getting the fly rod from Mr. Mike”.
